Welcome to my morning. As my husband and I stand in line one after the other waiting to fill our own coffee cups with fresh pressed coffee from my favorite appliance in the house, (our Miele cup by cup coffee maker that turns out six different flavors--decaf and regular--cappuccinos and espressos), I turned the dial to make my own personally programmed favorite cup of coffee. My husband stands behind me, empty mug in hand, and asks, “Is the coffee maker actually still programmed for all of the different types of coffee capsules that are in it?” “Of course,” Miss Organized informs. Snickering erupts. “Really? How?” “How do you think? I do it.” Indignation kicks in. Defensiveness replies. “Well I don’t know maybe there is a sensor inside that automatically detects which coffee is which...I didn’t think you’d still be doing it.” “Yes dear, there is a sensor that detects the variety of flavors. There is also a sensor that washes your dirty laundry and makes it magically appear clean, pressed and hanging in your closet.” “Here we go...” “There is also a sensor that automatically makes your dinner, takes care of your dog and transports children to and from school.” “I’ll switch jobs with you any day,” Mr. Grass Is Always Greener offers. “Great...Start by hitting the sensor that makes the lunches, reloads the washing machine, cleans the couch that was peed on, shops at Smart and Final...” “Scruffle ruffle ruffle,” mumbles my hubby, whom I can only assume would rather go to work since he declines the above chores.
